J.K. Rowling isn’t just a famous author or human rights advocate. She’s also a dog mom.
Yesterday, in between tweeting gems of wisdom and battling writer’s block, Rowling shared a proud dog mom moment with her Twitter followers.
Rowling was responding to a WeRateDogs tweet that rated her adorable West Highland terrier, Bront. The pup scored an impressive 13/10.
When a fan asked the author about Bront’s name, Rowling responded with the enthusiasm of a mother talking about her child.
She’s hardly ever called ‘Bront’, though. The very opposite of She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, she’s got about a hundred nicknames.

Whether named after a long-necked dinosaur or an English novelist, the story behind Bront’s name is sweet.
Rowling has tweeted pictures pictures of her and Bront, often while she’s writing.
It’s great to know that Rowling has such a faithful writing partner to keep her on track and motivated.
Nearly 3,000 dogs traveled to New York City to compete in the Westminster Dog Show this past weekend, but only one could be Best in Show.
This year, the honor was given to Rumor, a 5-year-old female German shepherd.
The Best in Show Judge Thomas H. Bradley told CNN that German shepherds were all about quality and nobility when the prize was awarded last night.
“When you recognize it, it hits you home, and that’s what it really is. She is just magnificent,” Bradley said.
Rumor is named after Adele’s song “Rumor Has It,” according to CNN, which means Adele has so far been completely owning 2017.
The German shepherd won the herding group in order to compete for Best in Show. Here are the six other finalists who won their their category and also competed for the top prize.
Congratulations to all of these very excellent doggos.
And special congratulations to the beautiful Rumor. Enjoy your time as the queen!
Americas iconic dog show encourages breeding for beauty over health. It says a lot about our societys fixation on aesthetics and status at the cost of empathy
This cute video about Mia the beagle who did start at the dog show but was a little too easily distracted got over 2.7 million views on YouTube.
“Mia the beagle does whatever Mia the beagle wants.”
Teamwork makes the dream work.
In this video uploaded to Youtube by , a very helpful little pug scratches the back of his much larger pup friend. And the big dog can’t get enough. His leg is going wild from all the great doggie scratches.
Lil’ Pug saw his friend in need and stepped up to the plate with vigor. Someday we hope Big Dog will return the favor, but he’ll have to be careful. That pug is tiny.
How does spending an entire week playing with a puppy and getting paid for it sound to you? Too good to be true?
We’re here to inform you that there is a company which allows their employees to do that. Yes, that exists.
Companies all over the world have stepped up their game to ensure a high quality of life for their employees by offering all sorts of competitive perks and benefits. But we have found the one company that has every other place beat, hands down, no question.
BrewDog, a brewery based in Scotland, announced on Monday that it would be instituting “Puppy Parental Leave” across their company.
“We know only too well that having a new arrival whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog can be stressful for human and hound both,” BrewDog stated on its website. “So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff a working weeks leave on us to help settle a new furry family member into their home.”
If it were possible to give an entire company a hug, we would be doing it to BrewDog right now.
Their announcement also came with this adorable video explaining the policy.
As you may have guessed by the brewery’s name, dogs are an essential part of the identity of BrewDog. Indeed, the brewery was founded by two men and a dog.
“Ever since Bracken, the original Brew Dog, first watched James and Martin mash in batch number one of Punk IPA back in 2007 dogs have been central to our way of life,” the brewery mentions on its site.
BrewDog also encourages its employees to bring their dogs to work. Their main office in Scotland boasts 50 “office dogs.”
How does anyone get any work done there?
While the brewery is headquartered in Scotland, they are planning on opening up another brewery in Columbus, Ohio. And just a reminder, the puppy paid leave policy extends to all employees anywhere.
We’ll just leave their careers page here for you for easy access.
